Todd rejoined MPL Laboratories in February 2010 after initially working at MPL from 2003 -2007. He has a BSc (Chem.) from the University of Western Australia, and previous employment history includes roles such as Senior Organic Chemist, Senior Inorganic Chemist and Laboratory Supervisor. He has a broad background in environmental laboratory testing and will be able to assist with any enquiries related to MPL’s operations.
Todd is a current NATA signatory for all tests (except Asbestos, Dust and Microbiology) which covers the analysis of soil, water and other matrices by techniques GC, GC/MS, ICP-AES, AAS and classical techniques.
He was the Chemistry Lab Supervisor, MPL Laboratories, Feb 2010 to August 2010, Senior Inorganic Chemist, ALS Environmental, Sept 2009 to Jan 2010, Senior Organic Chemist, ALS, July 2008 to Sept 2009, GC/MS Chemist, ALS, Aug 2007 to Jul 2008 and Chemist, MPL July 2003 to Aug 2007

Assistant Laboratory Manager
Sandra has relocated from the Sydney Laboratory to fill the role of Assistant Lab Manager for MPL Laboratories. Sandra has been with the Envirolab Group since 2005. She is a NATA signatory for all organic tests which covers the analysis of soil, water and other matricies by techniques of GC, GC/MS. Sandra is also a NATA Technical Assessor in the field of Chemical Testing for Organics. Prior to this, Sandra was the Chemistry Lab Supervisor, MPL Laboratories, Jan 2011 - October 2011, and Assistant Lab Manager, Envirolab Services, Aug 2010 to Dec 2010.

Business Development Manager
Catherine North has worked with MPL Laboratories since 1991 in a wide variety of roles.
Formal qualifications include a BSc (Hons) Microbiology and a Masters in Business Administration. Catherine held long-standing NATA Signatory status for Microbiological testing and Asbestos testing.
Catherine has previously worked in the laboratory as Manager, Microbiologist and Asbestos Analyst. Catherine has also worked as Manager of MPL OHS consultancy group (now part of Coffey) and Quality Manager for the organisation.
The combination of roles has provided Catherine with broad experience in on-site sample collection, extensive laboratory analysis and systems management.
Catherine is currently working in the role of Business Development Manager for the Laboratory. In this role she is focussed on understanding client analytical requirements and ensuring the services MPL Laboratories provide meets their needs.

Micro, Asbestos, Dust Supervisor
Dr Monika Buerger has been with MPL Laboratories since 2001. Monika qualified as a biologist (Hons) in Germany and specialized in microbiology during her PhD thesis. After a 4 year research period at the University, she started and ran her own environmental hygiene laboratory (7 years) until her migration to Australia.
After initially working in the water section of the laboratory Monika has worked in the microbiology, dust and asbestos areas. In 2006 Monika completed the Diploma of Business with AIMS and is also a qualified Surface Ventilation Officer. She is the Supervisor for microbiology, asbestos and dust and has been a NATA signatory in these areas for the past 7 years.

Operations Supervisor
As Operations Supervisor, Joshua's role includes client services such as providing quotation for analysis, assisting with bottle orders, overseeing sample login and registration into LIMS, as well as liaising with clients with regards to turnaround time for analysis.
Joshua in conjunction with the Supervisors and Team Leaders ensures that all work is reported by the due date.
Joshua Lim has been with Envirolab Group since 2005.
He is NATA signatory for all organic, inorganic and dust tests, which covers the analysis of soil, water, dust and other matricies by techniques of GC, GC-MS, ICP-AES, ICP-MS, AAS and classical techniques, NATA signatory for asbestos identification tests in both soils and materials, NATA Technical Assessor for Asbestos and Appointed Analyst under NSW DECC legislation.
He worked as an Asbestos Identifier and Signatory, SGS 2004-2005, Chemist, Envirolab 2005-2008, and Operations Assistant, Envirolab March 2008 to Jan 2010. He faciitated a smooth integration of MPL into Envirolab Group and implemented a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Sandra has been with MPL since 2001 in the area of administration, sample receipt, accounts and invoicing.
Sandra is the front line person for counter and telephone queries, staff queries as well as invoicing and manages the office administration.

Acid Soils/AMD Supervisor
Stacey Hawkins joined MPL Laboratories in August 2010. He has a BSc (Hons) degree in Geology from the City of London Polytechnic and a BTEC HND in Geological Technology from the South London College. He emigrated to Australia in 1992 and worked in various Perth, Papua New Guinea and Kalgoorlie mineral laboratories until 2006. Since then he has headed up acid sulfate soils and acid mine drainage laboratories and has extensive experience in dealing with mining and environmental consultants.
He has a broad and practical knowledge of ASS risk mapping and local Western Australian problem areas including the Gnangara mound where he has overseen the testing of many thousands of ASS samples. Stacey’s main role will be heading up and driving the technical development of ASS/AMD within the Envirolab group.

Micro Team Leader
Tom Edwards has been with MPL Laboratories since 2003. Tom has a BSc in Biological Sciences and a PgCertEIA from Murdoch University. After initially working in the metals testing area using an ICP-OES and Graphite furnaces Tom began working in the Microbiological testing area in 2006. He is currently the Microbiology team leader and a NATA signatory for both metals and microbiological analysis.

Laboratory Administrator
Sarah Abbott has been working with MPL Laboratories in the administration area since 2005. Sarah will be able to assist you with quotes and with sample container orders.

As part of the reception team at MPL Laboratories, her duties include greeting clients, answering incoming calls, booking couriers, receiving samples and general administration duties. It also involves data entry of results from the lab.

Olga Carmiggelt has been with MPL Laboratories since October 2007.
Olga has a degree in Arts, worked in the Medical field and University’s Publishing House in Russia, and for engineering company in Perth.
Olga mainly receipts dust, asbestos and vapor samples.

Senior Chemist
Michael joined MPL Laboratories in Nov 11 as Senior Chemist, relocating from Queensland.
He brings fifteen years of laboratory experience, predominantly in the analysis of water and soil samples with extensive experience in metals analysis. He also has experience with a large cross-section of instrumentation including ICP, ICPMS, Flow Injection analysis, FIMS, AA, GFAA, IC, HPLC, UV-Vis and wet chemistry techniques.
He is a NATA signatory for all metals tests, and a NATA assessor for water analysis including wet chemistry, ICP, IC and AA.
Michael has worked for various laboratories in the past, including SAFE Analytical Laboratories, Amdel and Analabs.

South Australian Business Development Manager
Alexandra Stenta joined Envirolab in July 2011 as the South Australian Business Development Manager.
Alex will be based at Windsor Gardens in Adelaide and will be directing samples to both the Sydney & Perth laboratories.
She has a very strong understanding of the water, wastewater and contaminated soil industry as well as a detailed knowledge of Air Toxics & OHS analysis. Alex has worked closely with consultants and contractors over the past 6 years providing her with an excellent understanding of Environmental Industry requirements.
